Help with sony bdp s300

Hi I have a Sony BDP s300 bluray player and a ONKYO TXNR609 receiver I know this is an older blu ray player but what surround formats can I use as I don't know if I can use Dolby TRUE HD also what is the best way to set it up with the ONKYO

If you've updated your player's firmware, it will decode Dolby True HD:

Even if not, you can always bitstream audio for your Onkyo receiver to decode it in the true format.
You just have to connect your Sony to your Onkyo with an HDMI cable. The Onkyo then connects to your TV with another HDMI cable.
