Hi

I have a Yamaha AS-500 and want to get a blu-ray player to connect to it.  My TV only has a digitaloutput so I cannot connect it to the amp, which is why I want to connect it to the hifi.

Is this possible or does anyone have any suggestions of a better idea to be able to connect up my amp for movies.

Thanks

Tom

If you connect the Panasonic 220 to the amp, how will the video get to the TV? The only option is for the blu ray player to connect to TV, which leaves us with the problem of connecting the TV to your amp.

Which TV have you got?

I might be missing something here, but from what I can see, the Panasonic has stereo analogue outputs (the spec seems to confirm this). So just connect these into your Yamaha amp with a standard phono lead.

Oh yeah, you're right. Never had to use stereo analogue outs before, so I was only thinking of 5.1 analogue outs which the Panasonic did not have.  excellent!

So, is it possible to assign audio to the stereo outs & video via HDMI in the Panasonic.

This should do the trick:

I would choose this option: better SQ for your BDP and TV.

I always used to use analogue outs hooked up to my hi-fi  from the TV until I had my Marantz M-CR603 which had optical-in and just hooked it up through that. When I bought my stop-gap amp (no in-built DAC) it sounded terrible in comparison, so wandered down to Maplin’s for a £35 DAC which made a massive improvment (no overstatement) to both the TV and BDP SQ.
