Yamaha RX-A2010 doesn't output Deep Color with Video processing enabled
My new Yamaha RX-A2010 stated in the specs that supports Depp Color (30, 36bits) but I´ve seen that this is only true when HDMI video signal pass through the receiver untouched, that is with video proccesing disabled. I wanted to use the HQV Vida engine to upscale SD signals (DVD, etc) from my PS3 but when I activate the upscaler the info in my Kuro LX508D screen doesn't show "36 bit" status as always happens with every signal (SD or HD) coming from my "Deep Color" enabled PS3.
I don't know if this is a bug of the firmware or what. By the way I´m using the latest firmware 1.06.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Thanks Rick!
I´m looking forward to hearing your findings and comments about this issue.
Hi MMW
Your welcome.
This is the specification of the RX-V2010 and therefore is not bug or firmware related.

Hi Rick,
I don´t understand it cause in the VDH1900 specs it´s clearly stated that the chipset outputs 36 bit video signal and Yamaha says that RX-A2010 "supports" deep color. Would it be possible to check in one of your RX-V3067 or RX-V2067 if those outputs a deep color HDMI signal when video processing is enabled? This would clarify things a bit more cause they uses the same chipset and share the same specs in video section than the RX-A2010.
Thanks a lot.
Hi MMW
I've consulted Yamaha on this matter and their response is -
From the hardware point of view, the IC has ability to upscale with deep colour info, however, from the RX-A2010 point of view, Yamaha RX-A2010 does supports deep colour but only in case of pass through conditions. It is as a result of performance balance.
As if focusing on only the VDH1900 chip, we can say it should be available but our RX-A2010
consists of many devices and we have to design it through consideration of whole
device performance balance.

Hi Rick,
This clarifies the whole issue. Anyway I'd like Yamaha to be more precise when says "full deep color support" in the RX-A2010 specs...
Thanks again for taking the time to contact Yamaha andask about this issue.
Kindest regards.
