Which AV amp to match my MA Radius??
Hi all, I'm now looking to update my Yamaha RX-v2400 to a more modern amp which is competent of HD Audio codecs and plenty of HDMI inputs as my amp ha none and tv only three
My short list is
Onkyo 609/609
Pioneer 920/921
Denon 1911/1912
Yamaha 667/671
All will be 2nd hand ,
Many tha thanks
While the receivers you've listed will be more up to date as far as features and audio decoding are concerned, I think you may find a drop in amplification quality. I would look more towards the Yamaha RXA1067, Pioneer LX55, Onkyo TXNR818, and Denon AVR3312.
Yeah I agree definately audition the yamaha rxa1067, absolutely stunning for what you get price wise, regards to the other amps listed i couldnt tell you as i have not used or listened to the amps.

Agreed. But wouldn't it be Denon 2312, or Yamaha 2067? The 1067 & 3312 are in different classes.
Sorry, I actually meant RXA1010. Any of those will be much better than the £400/500 receivers with the Radius speakers. Most of the receivers I've listed are around the £1k mark rrp (a more capable price point), but obviously some might be available for less - probably the AVR3312 is the better deal around at the moment.
Totally agree with the reccomendations for the slightly beefier Yamaha's. Currently using a RX-A1010 to run my Radius 225 HD and it's a great match (replaced an Onkyo TX-SR876)

Hi sta99y
How many HDMI inputs do you want?
All the best

Thanks all, a minimum of 4 HDMI, my speakers are not the HD series, I think my amplification is great, its just so blimming messy having 4 HDMI cables, a component cable a digital cable and a Thor HDMI splitter all in trunking. I know I should go with the more expensive yamahas which was my 1st choice but funds are tight. The 671 I can get for £249 with 2yr warranty. This is surely a steal is it not??
Id love the Yamaha 1067 or newer models but out of my price range unfortunately! unless a link to a 1067 for a reasonable sum can be submitted.
Thanks for all your replies. Really appreciate it.

Depends on what your priorities are. Going from RX-V2400 to RX-V671 will actually be a downgrade in terms of sonic quality. Definitely demo prior to purchase to ensure you're happy with it.
What's the top end of your budget by the way?
BB top end mate is £500 max as £180 spent lately on sub!!
I get what ppl say about sonic performance but the bluray decoding is fine but calibration etc... can be a pain in the backside! A HD Amp surely could be on par with what I have in my budget??
Hi Darrell
If you're still happy to consider used/discontinued AV amplification then i'll highly recommend that you look out for Yamaha's RX-V3800 AV receiver. The RX-V3800 has four HDMI inputs and HD decoding however i would also say that just as importantly the RX-V3800 will form an excellent tonal match with your speakers. The RX-V3800's overall quality of power and performance will be also be a worthwhile upgrade over the already impressive RX-V2400.
The RX-V3800 is worth seeking out and (hopefully not) but worth the wait
