What Receiver to buy?

Hi all,

Im new to seperates home cinema. I have had rubbish Argos out of the box cinema systems but now im looking for something with some oomph!

My budget is around £500 for amp and speakers New or seconds.

Currently i have found:

Onkyo TX-SR607 and Onkyo TX-SR605.

What amp would you choose and what speakers would you pair them with.

Hi Tirral & welcome to the forum.

If it were me i would go for something like the Sony STRDH820 A/V Amp at £249.95 from RS Clicky

Speaker wise, personally i would be looking at the 2nd hand market off somewhere like Ebay.

Do you want floorstanders with bookshelf speakers, or just a small style speaker package to suit your needs?
