Tannoy V4's, bi-amped from an AV amp - too much power?
I'm looking at pairing an AV amp with the Tannoy V4's for home cinema and living room hifi use, and looking at whether I can bi-amp from a surround sound amp. Well, I know I can, and the Tannoys would sound better, but would the amp be too powerful?
Im talking about the £500 rrp amps from the likes of Yamaha, Denom and Onky (80w, 90w and 100w per channel respectively). The Tannoys are rated at a max of 140 watts. I know that amp power is only a guide, but would all 3 of these be too powerful? I doubt I'll be pumping the volume up mega high, but I'd hate to damage something, or live with the fear of damaging, I of course could simple use a single cable run. I just want the best out of it I can get.
I've done that with my Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 (100watts max) too, driven by a Denon avr 1909 (7x90watts). I experienced no problem what so ever, but it didn't change a sound either. Maybe your floorstanders would benefit from the extra power.
You will be fine. The Mercury range are excellent speakers BTW. I used the original and MX ones and they were fantastic for the money, sounding as good as far more expensive speakers IMO.
Don´t worry about the specs. You can´t have to much power.

Has anyone done this? Or are the AV amps too powerful for speakers with a max input of 140watts?
