Onkyo NR609 & Canton 125

Recently bought both an Onkyo NR609 and Canton Movie 125 s\s speaker set up at the Manchester show a couple of weeks ago.
In terms of speaker cable connections; what the hell are banana plugs!? what's the most effective way of connecting to the 609? bare wires maybe
Plus, any ideas on where to get decent, but not too over priced, speaker cable?
