Has anyone purchased or reviewed this receiver - if so is it any good? I like the look of the size of it but would be interested in how it sounds

RE: Marantz NR1402

I purchased one of these a few weeks ago in a sale because it's quite a bit less chunky than others and it has a couple of pre outs which means I can use it with existing 2 channel hifi.

It's a very nice unit, sounds pretty good to my ears and it has the Audyssey calibrator built in and allows for lots of customisable settings.   It's only 50W rms per channel so don't expect it to offer earth shattering volume particularly in a bigger room.  But it's good value for money, especially with large discounts available.

... Not least because it's soon to be replaced

I have one and it's a great little receiver.

Pair it with sensitive speakers (around 90dB) and it'll fill any room.
