Fried 'Digital Board' on Denon AVR-1908....still good or paper weight?
Hi, I bought a Denon AVR-1908 four years ago and just the other day the front left channel went all staticky, then a high pitch noise and randomly no sound at all. I went to the Denon A/S centre here in S. Korea and they told me the 'digital board' is toast and there are no replacement parts available. Even if there were, they said its pricey. So, do I now have an oversized paper weight? The video size of things still seems to work. The RCA inputs seem to emit the same static/noise as the HDMI inputs. Maybe use it as a pre-amp in the future, but that might be fried as well, not sure? Fix it by hand? Sell it? Toss it out? What do you suggest I do with it? Cheers, Rob
Can you remember how much you paid for it? The same money will now buy you a receiver that is much advanced technologically, with the only negative being the probable loss of 7.1 multichannel analogue inputs.
I actually already bought a new RX-V673. There are a few things missing on it that I loved on the Denon, but do love the swathe of HDMI inputs.
Cheers for the comments.

Welcome to the forum Rob
It's a horrible feeling when something like this happens and to get news like that from the engineers makes it worse. Hate to say it but I think you got yourself a new paper weight
You could try selling it for spares on ebay but I wouldnt expect to get much for it, hell you could put the proceeds towards a nice shiny upgrade
