First receiver - what interconnects for Sky+HD and XBox?
I have purchased an Onkyo TX-SR309 and would like to get it set up with Sky+HD and XBox with Dolby Digital Surround Sound.
Can this be done through HDMI or do I need other cables to get surround sound?
That's what I have read about Sky. What about the Xbox? Will that work through the HDMI to provide DD?
I would presume so, but not owning one can't confirm it.
Hopefully an xbox owner will confirm it.
Hi
I have an xbox360 and an onkyo 606. You do get DD5.1 through the HDMI cable.
Sorry to hijack the thread but I need to ask a similar question...
I am getting my first AVR in a few weeks (Yamaha 3020, Pioneer LX86 or Denon 4520).
I have a Dreambox 800HD SE which I will connect to the AVR via HDMI.
Do I need optical or Coaxial as well for 5.1 sound? What about the picture then... is it still passed through HDMI?
Thanks
The DM800 SE is able to output DD5.1 via HDMI.
Thanks man
Also just to confirm... DD5.1 is the max the Dreambox can do correct?

You'll need an optical or digital coaxial cable for the Sky+HD box if you want DD5.1
