Is it possible to enter a URL into a receiver's internet radio function or do you have to make do with a pre-defined list of stations?

I'm purchasing either a Denon AVR1912 / Marantz NR1602 / Pioneer VSX921 this weekend.  All have internet radio but it seems as though the receiver looks up a list of stations from somewhere.

How can I check that the stations I listen to are on the list (they are not mainstream stations).

If they have AirPlay then load up the 'TuneIn Radio Pro' app (69 pence) to your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch and use the search on that.

If the 'station' exists, it will find it.

I has an excellent user interface. (Far better than any internet radio interface i've seen yet.)

There is an Android version too but I know nothing about that (or what hifi equipment has the Android equivalent of AirPlay) sorry.

They do all have AirPlay (thats one of my requirements for a new receiver) but I was hoping to do this without AirPlay.

Ok I guess I'll have to wait and see if my favourite stations are available.

Give me the names of a couple of your favourites and i'll see if TuneIn Radio Pro can find them.

Just out of curiosity: can you find NL Radio 2 (NPO) ? The stream is at http://livestreams.omroep.nl/npo/aac/radio2-bb.pls but I've never been able to find it via any pre-defined search app (most use shoutcast as their directory).

No need for the URL.

TuneIn Radio Pro app found it by just searching for NPO.

Sorry for the poor quality image...

I'm interested in a station called Point Blank FM.  Its available through Shoutcast and iTunes, so maybe is available through these receivers too.

I DJ on that station, hence why it would be good to have it!

Wife is at other computer now, so no photo of iPhone screen this time Sad

"24/7 For The Best House Music Live from London"

Sounds great by the way!

RE: Entering a custom station URL for internet radio

hello.

I am very interested in the same subject discussed in this post.

I almost decided to buy the Marantz NR1603, but first wanted to make sure we can link channels TuneIn radio network with the computer off.

Specifically, I am very interested in accuradio.com music channels, which in my humble opinion are the best in internet radio.

for example:

http://tunein.com/radio/AccuRadio-AccuJazz-ECM-s127809/

Best regards and thanks everyone.

+1 on TuneIN radio.  Along with an Airport Express, I think the best value for money way to have internet radio at home.

My specific question is:

Can I to engage that url

http://tunein.com/radio/AccuRadio-AccuJazz-ECM-s127809/

into the receiver and to listen to the music channel with the computer off ?

thanks
