Hi,

I'm looking for a new sound system setup with support for bluray. After reading a lot of reviews I think I will go for one of these two options:

HTPC (Asrock CoreHT 233D without integrated bluray player) + Samsung HT-D5500 (with integrated bluray player) = 544 + 276 = 820 euro
HTPC (ASRock CoreHT 231B with integrated bluray player) + Onkyo HT-S3305 (without integrated bluray player) = 575 + 279 = 854 euro

In the first case I will play my bluray discs using the A/V receiver while in the last case I will have to use the HTPC. Which scenario is the best option?

The HTPC will probably offer more software options, but on the other hand it requires more configuration stuff (with the risk that the A/V is not played optimal). The A/V receiver will just play the bluray disc and will always pick the right configuration I guess.

Thanks for any feedback!

Sorry I would do neither.

AV amp, BD player (3D) sorted.

Found the HTPCs poor with BD Discs. Use mine for TV and streaming from the NAS.
