Please help in deciding between Pioneer LX83 and Arcam AVR 500 in my Proac Studio 150 fronts and Hexa Centre and reaers also Rel Stadium 2 sub, pioneer plasma and forthcoming projector. 3D is not a priority. Usage being 65% Sky HD and Bluray, 35% music. I can't demo as dealers are down country and ex demo, Pioneer £1100 and Arcam £1500
Any views in helping decide will be most welcome.
Pioneer LX83 v Arcam AVR 500 - Proac Speakers
If it's 65% for movies, Pioneer will be a better bet.
Ah, but with the AVR500 in situ, that could easily become 50/50.
To be serious for a moment, if the OP could give some idea of how they like their system to sound, it may help....though the fact that Proacs were the speakers of choice, may be a clue.

I much prefer the Arcam, but I would say that as I have the AVR600 (imo the most musical AV amp under £8500).
As music is quite important, the Arcam is probably the one to choose.
With the AVR500 costing around £1500 it's very good value, as it's performance is not that far behind the AVR600....just make sure it has had the latest mods to prevent it over-heating, as well as the most recent firmware update.
