Thanks  Actually that makes sense, in that our common law allows people to behave in any way they like save for what legislation says they cannot. So dogs are regulated by the dangerous dogs act but there is no dangerous cats act!

If you're into this subject matter and don't mind reading children's fiction, Robert Westall's Blitzcat is a brilliant book  Smile

Simple, ask your housing association to arrange a meeting where you, your neighbours and a representative from the h/a can discuss the issues .  The final decision will rest with the h/a as to who is right / wrong

This is going to happen soon, i'm expecting things to get ugly, i've been here twelve years & it wouldn't suprise me if i look for new accomodation this year, apparently my next door neighbours don't like cats, they don't like cats (inc. neighbours cats) climbing on the fences, i'm ready for war.

I think the solution is to help them with an alternative plan to keep cats away, like this:

Oops!

My neighbours have put this up, but I'm not bothered about them at all. Never knew anyone would be irritated with them until now. I must admit I still don't see the point of this animosity though. If my neighbours want to protect their garden by putting spikes up, so be it.

RE: I am at war with my neighbours

I said to one of my freinds, -have you heard about the trouble i've been having with my neighbours about the trellis's and spikes, and she replied, -it's like a prison,

if people break in they will break in, i've never lived in a place with a garden that is surrounded by trellis & spikes & i don't intend to, i have never felt threatened where i live & if they do maybe they should move.

Have you actually tried talking to your neighbours yet?

Hi-Fi - Yamaha RX-V667 > AVI DM5 > AVI subwoofer

Head-Fi - Epiphany Acoustics EHP-O2Di > Sennheisser HD700

Portable - Sony NWZ-A847 > Westone UM3x

I'm inclined to agree.

I get a sense that the degree of aggravation is disproportionate to the problem's severity. OK, the spikes are a little unsightly (though Titchmarsh approved), but it sounds like this dispute is seriously impairing your quality of life and, perhaps, has implications for you health.

I recall asking many weeks and posts back whether the dispute runs deeper than the fence spike issue? Have you had previous altercations with the same neighbours, meaning this is the culmination of longstanding pent up hostilities?

Agreed, they really wound me up in the middle of january & now we are at the end of march, so tomorrow i am going to put an end to it and then hopefully forget about it, my health is more important than a couple of trellis.

Sounds like a good plan.

A very apt quote (falsely) attributed to Buddha,...

"Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned."
