Very strong and very thin thread or similar, plus an extremely stroppy girlfriend to vigorously slam the door whose handle the thread is tied to. If you can provide the former, I can provide the latter...

I did two weeks work experience in a dentist when I was 15 (20 years ago), I pulled a couple of teeth, one of them a really stubborn molar (get your weight behind it lad!), I wouldn't mind having another go!

Failing that, book the appointment and get paralytic beforehand so you're unconcious when you're in the chair.

For what its worth IMO a dentist is the best bet, and you never know he/she might be able to save the tooth.

Its all pain free in that chair these days.

Go to the dentist. It's not as bad as you think.  Be over before you know it

a bottle of whiskey and a vice grips , i would get a friend to pull it though , after the whiskey you may get the wrong tooth , then when you sober up you will have to do it all over again ?? pretty soon you could have no teeth , no money , and a really peeved off friend , unless of course you let him have some too , and your even more skint , probably still end up with no teeth , and both you and your friend in rehab , now , are you sure you dont want to just go to the dentist ??

Re: Best tool for knocking out a molar.

OK true confession: after years of being traumatised by whirring drills, huge X-ray machines and the like when much younger, I let my dentist-going lapse for a decade or more.

Intense pressure from my wife made me go again about a year back, and though I had to have quite a lot of work - some inlays, mainly - I was amazed how easy it all was these days: better local anaesthetics, drills and so on. Hardly felt a thing over several sessions, and just got my first 'clear' check-up in probably 20 years.

Moral of the story: stop being a soft lad, and go to the dentist.

Hygienists, however, are a very different matter with their nasty high pressure water spears. Mine always talks about her Egyptian boyfriend while trying to a) chisel away my gums with water needles and b) drown me...

Sit in the chair, grab hold of him somewhere tender, smile sweetly and say " now we are not gonna hurt each other are we ".Smile

Seriously though its all painless these days and the longer you leave it the worse it gets.

They say a problem shared is a problem halved. it's much less painful today. I'm hoping the nerves will die and I won't have to bother with it at all.Smile

If you get an infection this will be far worse and if the nerves die then this is quite likely. I've had to have emergency work done twice on a tooth after the nerves died, very nasty indeed. Get to the dentist and fast!

Yeah I'm going in two weeks, for the first time in 8 years! Not because I was afraid, just because I was moving around a lot and never managed to get signed on anywhere before I moved off again. However I wasn't too worried as I'd never had to have any work done in the 27 years previously. Not so sure about that now, I think I've got some enamel erosion going, not sure what you can do about that though, and I think my wisdom teeth will need removing at some point, they're not bothering me at the moment but every now and then they start moving, which aches a little and there's only so much room in there!

Intense pressure from my wife made me go again
