Oh no I've dropped my iPhone 5 64gb and broken!! What to do
I've just bought my apple iPhone 5 on Wednesday, set it up on Thursday night and broke it on Friday!!
i did not but case as apple store said non approved are out yet!!
So annoying!!! As my iPhone 4S is out of action at moment as Transfered over to the nano sim.
what do I do next!!!!
Cheers guys
What bit is broken, and how broken is it? iPhone parts are available to buy on line, a screen shouldn't cost more than £30 if you are happy to do it yourself. It should be much easier to repair than the 4S as you no longer have to strip the whole phone.
I went to the apple store and paid them 120 quid. They dont repair, thry just give you a cleaned refurb (though the one i got had somebodys mail account still on it :-/). Insurance excess was a hundred quid so i didnt bother.
Buy a silicone rubber case - have dropped my 4S a few times - no damage at all:
Cheers guys,
i cracked the screen taken chunks out of the metal frame on both top corners!
i don't have insurance as wasn't offered any at time of purchase but have a appointment with apple bluewater on Monday to see if the will fix for a fee £180 I've heard they do that. Let you know how I get on!! Unlucky I guess as I have had every iPhones since first one and dropped all but never broken them!!
i have enquired about insurance today as well is 12.99 a month so once sort out this mess will insure the new handset!
no cases available at time in apple store!!
Thanks
Can't you claim on your household insurance?
Did that for the sprogs 3gs that got droped a couple of years ago.
Shop around for insurance, I would think you can get it for a lot less than £12.99. And if it's not already covered on the home insurance getting it added to it may be the cheapest option; it was for my iPhone 4.
I would first question Apple regarding the durability. How did you break it? Did you use it as a ball when playing cricket? If it only dropped from your hand onto the floor, it shouldn't have got damaged that badly. If that was the case, I would take it up with Apple to demand a free replacement.

Surely BB it depends what the floor is made of. I knocked my original iPhone off one of the worktops in the kitchen onto the slate floor, and the screen cracked and one corner was badly dented, yet the same phone had fallen out of my pocket from the top of a loft ladder onto a carpet below without a scratch...
To the OP, if you're looking for insurance, check the phone's not already covered by your home contents insurance. If it isn't, then include it (it costs very little extra). Also, it's worth checking that your bank account doesn't have phone cover. I know both Lloyds and First Direct offer it with some of their paid for accounts.
There were cases available for the 5 before it was actually released - my son had bought one from ebay which arrived on the Wednesday before the phone was out and his was safely encased in it when the phone arrived on the Friday they were released.
