Blimey in 2014 consumers must really be tripping over themselves to get hold of a new phone with a massive 8GB of unexpandable memory for a phenominal £60 discount on the 16GB model.
£429 ..... :shame:
What's Apple thinking? They want to improve sales of a plastic phone with a £400+ price tag for a non-expandable 8GB? It needs to release a phone at £350 price point (iPhone Nano? :?)

I think this has been done deliberately to lower the perceived entry price and attract interest, but then drive consumers towards the "only slightly" higher priced but "poor selling" 16gb model. Same reason people go for the 5S because it's not that much more than the 5C.
Still a very uncompetitive phone whichever way you look at it. Glad I bought another fruit phone for less than half the price, 6 times the memory capacity and better suited to my communication, media and AV requirements.
Their head's in cuckoo land if they think they can shift an 8GB phone for £400+ and I predict it'll bomb. Unless, as has already been said, it's just a marketing strategy to drive people towards the slow-selling 16GB model which can be had for £50 more.
