The new iPad.. Resistance is Futile..
I picked one up on Monday morning, the guy had bought it new on the previous Saturday for e580, it was the 32gb model. He'd knocked it off a table onto a wooden floor after having a few too many, and caused a tiny hairline fracture in the corner of it, not even on the screen. But he was sick, and i got it for e400 as he said he just couldn't live with it, as soon as we concluded the deal he went straight to the local Apple store to buy another 
So i had a good play with it and i have to say, that screen is just sensational, i fell in love with it, what a brilliant device. Alas i couldn't afford to keep it, i only bought it to sell on anyway, and reluctantly advertised it for e500. My mate came over to have a gander on Monday evening, he's a diehard Android fanboy, i sold him a Galaxy Nexus a few months ago and he's been telling me since how much better it is than the iPhone 4S, horses for courses i suppose.
So he had a little play with it, hmmmm, he said, i have to say i do like that screen it's very detailed, but, he said, i'd never buy an Apple product, i'll wait for the new high res Android tablets to appear later in the year and get one of them, they'll be much better. So i said, sure have a play with it there for an hour while i walk the dogs, see what it can do. Ah sure go on then he said, i've nothing else to do.
An hour later i returned to find him playing some game on it, Jesus look at the graphics on that, he said, i'm very impressed. Ah i said, i guess it's not bad for an Apple product, huh? Anyways i've a few things to do, i'll let you go and talk to you later. So off he went. An hour later i text him to say i had an offer of e480 and was considering accepting it, really? He said, that was fast, are you going to take it, i said why, would you actually be interested in it?
Half an hour later and it was his 
, ah i'll keep it for a few weeks just to see what it's like, he said

I could, but i'd rather buy the correct tool for the job, than a compromise with hack(as i found out with an hacked ATV1 - Now replaced with a nettop running Linux that meets my needs far better). Even jailbroken iOS is bland and restrictive [imo of course].
Nah, tried iOS 5 and had a play with 'New iPad', nothings changed still don't like it.
Plus i'm shallow and would be to embarrased to be seen in public using an iThing

If you are getting at what I think you are, both iOS and Android are rather poor at that. Win8 will be the "specialist site" tablet of choice. 
But for the time being I am more than happy with my Galaxy tab 8.9. But no tablet can replace a proper computer with mouse and keyboard. Just try multi-quoting on a forum! SOOOO much easier with a mouse, a full screen rather than half of one with the not particularly tactile touch screen in the other half.
Anyone who says they can type as quickly on an iPad/etc is either lying or simply can't type.
I think you've misunderstood me fr0gster, the love, would be for the lovely Apple product that I know Dave wouldn't display openly, he doesn't like iThingys, in public anyway

The bloke sold it to you for e400, despite you easily being able to get e500 for it. And people were desperate to buy a third-hand, damaged iPad from you for only e80 less than the cost of a new one. Bonkers.
32gb wifi models are £419 here. I should stock up and become a travelling iPad salesman.
e500 is only e20 more than the cost of a brand new 16gb model, the one i had was only two days old with a small cosmetic mark, so good value if you wanted one, i guess..
