iOS5.1 upgrade for iPad 1
Anyone tried upgrading their iPad1 to iOS5.1? Any problems?
My iPad 1 has gone really slow since I updated to iOS5. I am wondering whether the 5.1 update will improve the iPad1 or make matters worse.
None I've noticed. Apple always make older kit sluggish to 'encourage' upgades, remember how slow the iPhone 3GS went when the iOS for iPhone 4 shipped!
Well, newer software makes older hardware seem more sluggish since it's designed to take advantage of the higher performance of newer hardware. I don't think you can blame Apple for this general rule of computing.
What am I saying, of course you can. It's Apple - they're evil.
Thanks guys. I think I will leave the download alone then. I don't want to make what is already bad even worse.
My iPad1 is on 5.1 and it's fine. Some stuff is slightly sluggish (Google Earth) but every day run of the mill apps and browsing is fine.

I just upgraded my iPad1 to OS5.1 and it seems to be working better than when it was 5.0 
Mine seems fine too. Pages has gotten sluggish, but there is an update for that available, hopefully will fix.
