I love hearing Jonathan Ive talk. He is obviously intensely passionate about what he does, and very skilled. But he is so passionate he always comes off as borderline bonkers, a bit like Tori Amos
Very well deserved.

(So many negative and hostile responses on these forums in the past - to the whole idea of good design in hi-fi - tells me this particular honour won't be popular.)
Always baffled me as well. People will pay extra for well made furniture, but will put up with flimsy electronics to save a few quid? Don't get me started on 'Form over Function'...

Totally deserved and about b####y time!
Not because he is the designer for Apple, but because he is a successful, British, industrial designer.
Just a shame that he (like David Lewis with B&O) had to go away from the UK to find a career. (Here he would probably have been deemed to be too 'arty farty', the usual British response to great design.)
