Is there a setting i'm not seeing as ive noticed the ipad doesn't charge when I connect it to the pc, yet my ipod does?
This all boils down to the iPad requiring more power than most powered USB ports are designed to give.

Agreed. My iPad will charge from the main USB slots on my Mac but not the one hanging off my keybaord. The charger that it comes with is high voltage and charges it quicker anyway...
