Like most things, tablets are a "get what you pay" kind of deal. So it depends on what you want.

But whatever you do, do not install Crime City (or you'll be addicted within a few hours)

"get what you pay" is a bit vague kevinj, the cheaper unbranded makes like what you see on shopping channels you can get for between £100-£200, branded tablets like apple & samsung, -for a 16gb sells for £400, i think asus is even dearer.

RE: which one?

I would advise not to buy those cheap Android tablets. There's no point in buying a cheap inferior product if you end up not using it. You need a minimum of Honeycomb 3.1 OS.

Better still, go for this:

https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_7_8gb&feature=sin...

It's smaller, but you'll struggle to find a tablet even close to how good it is, at the price.

RE: which one?

Thanks guys but it will be used to control the avr,in relation to streaming my music(flac on pc)  primarily,so i wont need loads of apps....it wont leave my living room.wont be used to browse..... typing away i have a laptop.wont be used for games, fifa on ps3 takes care of that, woohoo!

wont watch films on it,prefering to use the system that has cost me best part of 3grand party time!

so in your opinions would i realy need to spend £150.....?Found an android 7'' screen os4 ice cream sandwich for £95.....'reckon that would be ok?

cheers guys:)

Sounds like the Nexus 7 is what you need.

£159 from the Google play store for a tablet with a quadcore tegra 3 processor. Nothing comes close in price/performance.

RE: which one?

Make sure you can live with a 7 inch screen though.

If you want a 10 inch tab the rumours are that a Nexus 10 will be released later this year.

I've been using the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 for more than a year and although its a fine tablet Samsungs tardiness in rolling out Androis O/S updates is shocking. Still on honeycomb (android 3.1), ICS (android 4.0 ) has been promised for months but is continually delayed and I doubt I'll ever see Jellybean (android 4.1).

Stick to nexus branded devices if you want timely updates and the vanilla android experience. With each release Android is getting better and better, reducing the need for manafacturers to reskin their devices with their own UI tweaks e.g. HTC Sense, Samsung Touchwiz etc, though no doubt they will continue to do so.
