pull ring to unlock

Is there any way to delete this initial screen with the four icons but still keep a number/pattern lock. I preferred it as it was before the update.

I have looked in the settings and can't find any option. I have tried a few apps but the also remove the pattern lock which I would like to keep.

The only way you can get rid of it as far as I know is by rooting your phone and using a custom ROM.
