Getting music onto Nexus 7 - Novice help req'd!
Hi
About to purchase a Nexus 7 for my daughter's birthday as we can't stretch to the Ipad Mini.
We have about 6000 songs on itunes at the moment, 99% of which i've spent ages importing from my CD collection. How (if at all) can i transfer songs from itnues to the Nexus 7 or will i need to start again to get songs on the tablet for her?
I have had the same issue. The way I did it was to hook the nexus 7 up to the laptop and it effectively shows up as a USB storage device. I then went into the itunes files on My Computer (rather than itunes itself) and copied some of my albums across. I'm not massively IT competent so there may be a quicker/more direct way.
Some issues you may or may not be aware of:
1. The standard music player on the nexus 7 does not necessarily pick up the album art (seems to be a bit hit and miss). You can download other music players (such as the n7 app) from which you can download album art.
2. There may be problems copying songs purchased from itunes more than about 2 years ago I think as they were copy protected. There are programs that can be downloaded to get rid of the copyright protection though I believe.
Other than that, I hope your daughter enjoys her nexus - I love mine and think it's a fantastic device!!
Thanks for the replies. At least i know it can be done then, that's great.
We were going to get her the Kindle Fire HD but the Nexus 7 seems to get better reviews.

That's pretty much it for any Android device to be honest.

That's an iTunes issue, it doesn't store album art in a standard way (it uses its own metadata instead of embedding the art I believe), you get the same issue with other players such as Sonos.
You could pay iTunes to give you non-DRM versions as well I believe.

Definitely get the Nexus. Does everything a Fire HD can but does a lot of things it can't (or does them much more easily).
Unless you are an Amazon Prime subscriber and want to use the Amazon Lending Library, in which case get the Kindle...
I bought my wife one for Xmas and she's loving it. Does all a Kindle can and more. Very fast too.
Drag and drop is fine but doesn't work for ALAC (Apple Lossless) files.
Much better than my iPad.
A cracking 7in tablet

If it's a Windows PC, simply connect your Nexus 7 to it & drag n' drop songs into the music folder.
