32GB Nexus 7 is already available for £199!!
Looks like somebody bought the 32GB Nexus 7 from PC World yesterday, if that twitter post is true! Worth ringing your local PC World & checking.
It's the same story as happened in the US, that broke when someone bought one pre-release. I'll wait to see what the official release date is when it's announced on Monday. I'm betting it'll not be far off, but if it is I'll take your advice and see if there are any out unofficially. God forbid the alternative of being forced to get an iPad mini!
I think late November / Early December will be the best time to buy. More players are coming with their 7-inch offerings, resulting in fierce competition & greater choice.
What others will be coming out?
"i" know which way I'd go Ben
Acer Iconia A110 & Nook HD. Google is announcing its new Android version on Monday. I'm expecting a few more tablet announcements after that.
I wonder how far Google will take this price war? I guess we'll know on Monday when the price of the new Nexus 10 is revealed. Now if that was £100 cheaper than the iPad....
In some ways, I am worried for Google. Its profits have dropped, & this price war means it'll make no money (probably lose more money). Looks like it's hedging on the possibility of Android dominance across all platforms, with future revenues from apps.
The ideal world would be: 3 ecosystems (iOS, Android & Windows) co-existing with roughly 33% share each. That way, the competitors will stay on their toes with innovative products to satisfy all price segments in the healthiest possible competition. Consumers can only gain from that. There should be no litigations, or have just one universal body governing laws related to mobile technology.

I've read about the nook hd, don't like the look of it really. Didn't know about the acer or anything else. You think these'll be out for Christmas? Would we not have more leaks? (Like with everything else!)
Acer is coming in November. Toshiba had released a very good but very expensive 7-inch tablet in July (Excite 7.7). I'll be surprised if they don't drop their price before Christmas. Hopefully, Samsung & others may announce something next week. An Apple product launch usually results in a flurry or similar launches by other manufacturers.
Hmm, consensus with the Acer seems to be that, unless hdmi out is a must have, you're paying a bit more for a worse screen and less storage. I guess all android ones will be similar? Is windows doing anything affordable at 7"?
Microsoft has ruled out 7-inch versions of Windows tablet for the moment. With all the attention on Windows products, I wonder how many manufacturers are planning to release Android products this year (as they're the same manufacturers) ?
Amongst all the products so far, Nexus 7 seems to be the best bet. I don't know what's the deal with Asus. Is it merely going to be content with making Nexus 7, or will it make an Asus version of the same tablet with better specs & price? This is what HTC & Samsung did with Nexus phones in the past. They made the Nexus, & then launched their own flagship devices beating it on every front.
Re post 13: Ah right. Well it sounds like there's unlikely to be anything substantially better at a similar price than the nexus 7, which seems fairly cutting edge. And android competition is unlikely to force the price of the nexus down as it's already being sold at or below cost. So I probably will just go with the nexus, subject to the announcement on Monday.
Re 14: presumably they wouldn't do that in this season of tablets tho? (If they did it at all.) Undercutting price might also be impossible as asus doesn't make money on the apps.

It would be nice if they rolled them out straight after the announcement next week, it would be handy to be able to buy next week or the week after.
