Will size TV will my stand support?

Hi.
I have a 32" TV on a cantilever TV stand which I bought in 2007. I'm thinking of buying a 40" TV but I'm not sure if my stand is suitable or not - how can I tell?

Can't see anything on the stand - unless it's on the underside of the base but I can't get to it easily enough.

I would say if you are in any doubt then buy a new stand, you don't want to risk it and end up with your new tv broken on the floor.

Can't afford to buy a new stand as well. Not sure what to do.

Take it with you when you go and buy the set? Then ask the retailer if it will fit.
Do you know the manufacturer? And even better the model number?
