up to around £200 i have read reviews on audio technica m50 and akg 550 sound promising ?

Richer / Superfi have the AKGK550's for £139.  Worth getting at that price.

I own Audio-Technica ath-m50s/le and Arcam rPac. Beautiful combo. Dont know would they be more detailed than AKG but shoud have more bass deffinately!
