System ordered - now for the cables...
After much research, gathering of advice, measuring of space and chronic indecision, I finally took the plunge yesterday and ordered the following: Panasonic Viera TH42PX70 TV Denon 1940 DVD Recorder Denon DHT-FS3-X Surround Sound SKY HD Box All I need now are the cables/accessories. I have no real idea of what cables might come with them,r which ones to 'upgrade' to improve matters, so any advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Specific recommendations would be best as a bit of a newbie in this area. And accessories at all that I will/may need, just mention them!! I will ask about the exact or best way to set-things up/run in when all the goodies are assembled in my front room. Thank you Charlotte
Fuller answer coming, but bit concerned you mentioned "Denon DVD-1940 DVD Recorder". Did you want a DVD recorder or just a player? The DVD-1940 doesn't record.
Sorry Andy, yes I know its a player only, my mistake. was early in the morning and rushing off to work!!
Will be going for recorder a little later. When the 'first phase' has been completed and all set up!!
Thanks, look forward to fuller answer when you have time

OK, HDMI cables direct from DVD player and Sky HD to the TV - nothing madly expensive, something like QED Qunex HDMI-P, at about £50 each, will do fine, or you could get away with the budget Cambridge Audio HDMI at about £30 a pop.
Electrical digital from DVD player to Soundbar - QED Performance Digital Audio will be fine at about £30.
Optical digital from Sky HD to Soundbar - Chord Optichord at about £40.
Thanks a lot for this Andrew, very much appreciated.
