Scart or HDMI

I have got a a 428XD and a DCS370 both with scart and HDMI. Would connecting it via the HDMI be any better quality than using scart for normal dvd playback as well as DTS and THX playback? I know a little bit about shielded cabling and my theory is that there should be no difference between the two as far as signal strength but then what would be the point of an HDMI connection if they were both similar anyway?????
Go HDMI - it's an all-digital connection capable of carrying far higher bandwidth.
