Mains Conditioners

Hi, I have the silencer and had it originally plugged into the one of the double socket and the the power cord was plugged into the other one, but on experiement I removed the silencer form the double socket and pugged into one of the power cord sockets and it certainlly made a difference, so just asking which is recommended, the socket or the power cord or has anyone experimented also.
