iPhone remote apps for Samsung TV's and Sony BDP's

Just in case anyone's interested, I've just come across two separate (and free) apps to control Samsung TV's ("TV Remote") and Sony BDP's ("MediaRemote") via wifi. The respective devices obviously need to be on the same network, but as soon as I'd plugged in the Ethernet cable, the app picked it up straight away.
It might not be a harmony universal remote, but it's a step in the right direction, and it might even make the overpriced wireless dongles for both... Does anyone else have any experience with them?
