thinking of buying a dac but dont know which type of cables to go for. I'll be connecting a sonos, a cdp and a bdp. the bdp will need to be longer as its on a different rack. cheers.
Popular consensus is that coaxial sounds a bit better than optical. It also seems to allow passage of higher quality files than optical. Only caveat would be over long distances where optical is preferable.
Having said that, I've never used a coaxial digital cable myself, only ever optical, and I've no complaints.
Hi-Fi: Arcam A85, P85, CD192. B&W 602S3, PV1, Grado SR125, Atlas Titan, Hyper 2.0.
A/V: Sony KDL-V40A12U, BDP-S760, Humax Youview, Onkyo TX-SR875, B&W MT30 7.1, QED HDMI-P, S.A XT
Coax every time for me. Try to use bnc connections where possible.
I'd go for optical over coax, for no other reason than it offers electrical isolation.
There's no audible difference.
