Analog or digital connections - two speaker setup

Hey all. 

I have a two speaker setup connected to a Pioneer 5.1 reciever. I was wondering what the best way was to connect: 

1. A blu-ray player that also has analog connections

2. A htpc with integrated soundchip on the motherboard 

Is hdmi still the most optimal solution or should I go the analog route considering I only utilize two speakers.
