I use AdBlock Plus - best free download I've ever installed. No more pop-ups, pop-unders, banner ads, embedded video or audio ads. Just the pure unadulterated websites.
I'll second that! I just paused AdBlock to see what everyone was talking about and that's a lot of ads. Unpause AdBlock, normality restored

Of course, you realise that sites like this depend on revenue which comes in through people seeing these ads. So using these ad blocks actually harms the revenue intake of the site you're visiting, thus making it more likely that site will no longer continue, or may have to start charging for use of its services.
This is fine if you couldn't care less about the site, but if you're actually interested in the service it provides, it might be a good idea to unblock those sites and put up with a few adverts to ensure it continues.
whilst i'm not a fan of these adverts, it's hard to see how they will stop. as mentioned a number of times above, there are a necessity for site funding, and this thread proves nicely how affective they can be. for some reason we're all talking about Acer, and aiding their cause even if the comments are negative. i can't think of any of the other companies who have paid for ad-space on the page. it's firmly implanted in my brain now - and although i won't buy one of their products, someone else might because of seeing this thread and being reminded about them, or overhearing a complaint.
there's no such thing as bad press...
Fair point prof but we're not just talking about the odd ad here and there, there are multiple ads, pop-ups and embedded videos. If I wasn't using AdBlock I would probably stop visiting this site altogether.
Are some people more prone to pop ups than others because i have not seen this advert yet and adverts really don't bother me.

Okay i have just seen a acer ad but it's tiny and hardly worth mentioning, i still haven't seen a pop up yet which part of the website is it on ???
