Just downloaded the new google chrome BETA web browser and used it for about a hour or so and had no problems with the What Hifi site or in fact any other site so far.

First impressions are positive, it's faster than Firefox 3 and IE 7 and simple to use once you figure out how the bookmarks work - they are all organised on the bookmarks bar. Obviously you would have to use it over a period of time but it looks like a potential winner.

Looks like it's still in development along with the linux version. Shouldn't be to long as it uses apple's webkit and bits of mozilla.

One flaw I have discovered with it is that it only has text zoom and not page zoom as in firefox 3 and opera. Not so good if you sit a couple of metres from your monitor like I do, the page layout gets very confusing.

One good thing or bad thing is that it automatically imports all your bookmarks, view history and username/passwords from other browsers you have installed.

All browsers do this if you import the HTML settings from any other browser.

It's pretty good. Google have done a nice job on the GUI. It's nice and simple and easy on the eye. Ergonomically it's much better than opera and internet explorer and on a par with firefox. Haven't had any issues with the sites i've looked at, no freezing or crashes, pretty good for an initial beta.

One thing google have done is keep it simple so theres no add on function as in firefox or opera (widgets) though maybe they'll add this on the full release. All they need to sort out is whole page zoom instead of just text zoom.

Gets the thumbs up from me. I also liked the way google previewed it by using a comic style book.

I never do this, but for some reason, tonight, I think it's important I point out, this should be "fare" rather than "fair".

Cheers for pointing that out prof. Otherwise everybody would have assumed I was talking about swings and roundabouts.

To be fair I don't think it's right to pick people up on their spelling, especially as some folks fare.ÿ
