Help please.....

You can't - you need to host it somewhere (I use photobucket - Flickr, pbase, photobox are all alternatives) - then you insert a link to that file. Put your photo somewhere and I'll talk you through it.

Right.  When you hover over the pic in photobucket, four boxes appear below it, one of which says "direct link" I think.  Select the text in that box and copy the link.  Then come back here and click on the 'insert image' button.

Paste the link into the 'Image URL' box, and fill in the first 'dimensions' box only with the number 400, deleting the contents of the other box.  Click insert and you're done.

Blimey JD, what a palaver. I simply copy the image address by Control clicking on the image (I'm using a Mac) then paste that into the post window and bung img tags either side. Providing of course the image is not too large for this forum. With images that are too large surely it's possible to reduce it to an appropriate size using the upload options in photobucket. The drawback with using sites like photobucket is you quickly end up with pages of images you will only use once.

Yeah but that doesn't work if you have the rich text editor (which PP does) I don't think

EDIT - nope...

Right, I've clicked the text in the box and copied the link. That's fine. I've come back to this site and can't find 'insert image' button. Further directions please.

Thank you John and Daveh. It took a little longer than expected, but a good exercise in brain development (so I have got one!).
