Introducing the What Hi-Fi? shopping site (beta)
Submitted by Andy Clough on Fri, 20 Jul 2012, 12:30pmWe thought we’d let you in on a little secret: we’ve been busy developing a shopping site for whathifi.com, and we’re now ready to release the beta version for testing.
We’re only releasing this to our Forum users at this stage as part of the development process. We’d like to invite you, our most regular users, to take part, posting any feedback on this Forum thread so we can pass it back to the developers.
Important notice - Internet Explorer users

After some investigation (and going through the upgrade process from 7 to 8 to 9 on my own machine), we have identified an issue for users in Internet Exporer 8 and 9 versions when replying to forum threads, where typed text does not display in the rich text editor (though it is actually recorded and will show, albeit with all those spelling mistakes intact) when you save the post.
This can be resolved by switching to 'compatibility mode' in IE. The instructions for doing so can be found here:
USING THE NEW FORUMS
Submitted by Andrew Everard on Thu, 10 Mar 2011, 2:04pmThe operation of the Forums is pretty much as you've all been used to, and we've tried to keep the look and feel as close to the old one as possible.
If you haven’t yet logged in, you’ll find you need to do so with your USERNAME and password, not your email address as previously.
But there are a few new things to learn:
1) Avatar uploads should now work for everyone!
- To upload your avatar, go to your 'My account' page, click 'Edit' and scroll down to the section labelled 'Picture'.
IT'S BACK AGAIN and even more annoying than before
Submitted by relocated on Sat, 18 May 2013, 4:38pmAfter some respite from the 'STUFF PROMOTION' blocking pop-up, it is back with a vengeance.
Whatever page I go to today, this damnable thing takes over the page, preventing anything being done or seen until it receives some attention. It is wholly counter-productive and I thought WHF had sorted it, but clearly not.
Perhaps someone could try again to deal with this piece of dross????????
STUFF/Panasonic Blocking Pop-Up
Submitted by relocated on Thu, 9 May 2013, 12:20pm
What's with this recent full screen pop-up? It repeatedly blocks you from the seeing the content you came on the site for.
Does anyone think this is a positve thing to keep happening to visitors? For me, at least, the last thing I am going to do is want to have anything to do with whatever such a persistant nuisance is trying to promote.

Could we have a room acoustics 'sticky' thread?
Submitted by plastic penguin on Wed, 1 May 2013, 11:23amOver the years I've read so many threads/posts where a person has just purchsed based on reviews alone and NOT considered the influence or impact room size/acoustics can have on the end sound.
I appreciate not everyone can audition. Likewise, I also acknowledge that room acoustics, like anything hi-fi, isn't an exact science. Maybe a few pointers could alleviate any 'pre-purchase' anxieties. Perhaps a few 'dos' and 'don'ts' before parting with hard-earned money.

Spam threads
Submitted by MajorFubar on Fri, 12 Apr 2013, 9:46pm...seem to be being started by the bucketload this evening.
Does this forum not support some kind of system to stop bots registering new accounts and starting spam threads? E.g.: Capcha, or maybe have it so that mods have to manually enable all newly-registered accounts.
