It would be lovely if you could please incorporate an EMAIL system into the forums so that the user would know about any replies the user has posted on instantly (like indeed just about every other forum im on)

ooooooooo ~ unless its inherant to firefox (not yet tried on IE), the LINK button doesnt work either (Which would be nice for the other users so they dont have to keep COPYING and PASTING the links to see them.

Cheers

Re: email

Yes, wouldn't it?

Every time we try to set up such a thing everyone gets deluged with emails, so it's off for the moment.

Roll on the new forums software...

Re: email

well, could we not have a setting for (just simplisticly) emails yes or no? Then if I wish to get deluded with emails thats my own choice then (And when you initially sign upto the site its switched OFF)

Re: email

You'd think, wouldn't you?

But in this version of the software we seem to have a choice between no emails or full-on deluge mode, so we've gone for off as the least annoying.

As I said, we hope to upgrade the software soon, and then all will be well.

Well, I can dream, can't I?

Re: email

I am sure this thread is not unconnected with the one in the HiFi forum.

Can I just say FWIW that I think this is a great forum and that it's really sporting of What Hi Fi to have hosted it for free.

I don't think that the lack of PM as it's known is a big drawback and there are plenty of ways to dispose of old equipment already.

Thanks again guys for hosting the forum.

Re: email

I can certainly do without all the e-mails cramming up my mailbox. It was an excellent idea to have it turned off. Thanks Andrew.
