Hi Clare,

Just got to know that the above is now available in Malaysia. Just got the first copy for March 2010 a couple of weeks back. Curious to know whether the articles/reviews are done locally or is it just a copy of the UK edition? reason I ask is because the price is relatively similar to the UK version bu the content I can see is less.

As with all our licensed editions, it takes content from the UK one, but obviously only of products available in the local market. It's also allowed to review some locally available product, but not give star ratings on those reviews.

Aaaaahhh so those are the guidelines for the licensed editions. Thanks Andrew.

Well, that's my understanding, though I'm not directly involved with the licensing process...

Re: What Hi Fi Magazine - Asia edition?

That is indeed the model for our overseas edition. They can take any relevant reviews of products tested here in the UK, and  - subject to our approval - amend star ratings to reflect different pricing in their locality.

Our partners can also include local news and product coverage, but not star-rate products. We also get to see every single issue, and provide feedback on all sorts of areas.

We also often meet up with staff from our partners at overseas shows, or when they come to visit us here in Teddington.

It's great having a growing WHF 'family' around the world, and gives you excellent insight into the hi-fi/AV market's differences -and similarities.

Can't tell you the details right now, but we've got an exciting new overseas edition due this year, and another lined up for 2011.

Still, with @10 editions, we've got some way to go to beat our sister mag, Stuff, which now has almost 30 foreign editions Yes
