September Temptations
Can you please comment on the following queries regarding the Temptations section of the September issue:-
1 - Page 76 - Can't figure out picture at bottom of page - it looks like half of the Plinius power amp lying on its side - where's the other handle?
2 - Page 76 - top right picture of Krell FBI says pre-power - should it not be integrated?
3 - Page 81 - Kreel write up describes "substantial grab handles at front and back" yet there aren't any in photo - does this refer to Plinius on pg 76?
Thanks
Craig M.:i would say that 1. chopped in half in photoshop for some reason - a small gap needed filling? or someone thought it looked "arty"? 2. no idea. 3. i think the grab handles are removable, not got the mag to hand so going from memory, i seem to remember some small holes that might have housed screws for the handles. wierd that, i wondered about the same things as well.
Thanks for the response Craig - was beginning to wonder if it was just me. No clarification from WHF editors yet.....
Can't answer the question about the Pinius pic, but can do 2) and 3), since I wrote up the Krell review.
2) Yes, integrated - subs on 'must keep going' drugs, I suspect.![]()
3) The front panel has a large gap between it and the heatsinks to let you get a hold on the thing, and big conventional grab-handles on the rear. Perhaps the point could have been made clearer - 'substantial handholds on the front and grab handles to the rear' - but the review was originally written in a longer form for the new Ultimate Guide, so may have lost something in translation. Or it may have just been me having brain-fade.![]()
just had a look at the pic of the krell, what i thought were screw holes are led's? didn't think something that pricey should have exposed screw holes on the front panel. doh!![]()

Thanks Andrew - not that I would ever be able to afford half that Plinius anyway
The answer to question 1) is that it is indeed a picture of half the Plinius power amp lying on its side and cut in half. It's called 'artistic licence'! ![]()

Our Emma was clearly having a Damien Hirst moment that day.
Expertly photoshop'd indeed
