Ah, but they don't just flag up competitions, Roger, there's lots of links to stories and features you may have missed 
And we always get a big surge of competition entries after each weekly email, so not everyone is as efficient as yourself at entering, obviously....

Can you please stop sending them at all? How am I supposed to win anything if all these other people keep entering?

Yeah but I get so excited about that (remote!) chance of wining some new speakers etc that I always click through and enter the competition and can't possibly remember whether or not I've already entered it!

Well, there may be plenty of people who missed it first time round and we want to make sure everyone gets a chance to enter. And all the other links on the newsletter are different each week, so you could just choose to ignore the competition and read the rest.
