'new posts'

I don't know if this has been covered before, but quite often, recent posts that I have made and viewed show up as new posts again.

I recently contributed to the active speakers club thread and saw 40 new posts after a page reload. This goes back weeks prior to now.

I haven't trusted the 'new posts' functionality since some t--t built it three years ago...

Just happened to me for the first time.  I'd already viewed most of charles_mo's  CD players thread from earlier, but it's just said that there are 12 new posts in it to view. There were only 12 posts in total. Same computer, same browser, and no I haven't cleared-out the cookies or anything.

Same with me as well, lots of "new" posts although some like the F1 thread in off topic only show 26 new (out of 72 posts).

It's all part of the 'purge' of the backlog of spam which we're undertaking which will temporarily disrupt the flow of posts and show some as new when they're not. I'm told the process will take the rest of this week, then things should return to normal.

Personally, I like the new site and features even with it's quims and quirks. However, the forum section has been a nightmare for ages now - it seems to be one issue after another.Surely you guys can't be happy with it ? It is very broken at the mo and surely someone should be accountable for it ? I expect it takes up a huge amount of your time and resources to keep it going. It is all very frustrating.

You may say that; we couldn't possibly comment. Wink
