RE: Beckham's mug.

 Hi Chebby,

I agree, it would be rude...if this was your house but it is not! It is a business and like all businesses I expect they have bills to pay and people to employ.

I suppose they could take all the adverts off, but then I think they might go out of business and then we, the tax payers, may have more souls to house and feed :exmark:

RE: Beckham's mug.

I don't usually mind ads, but this one is super annoying. I had to click the cross three times within 10 seconds just now to stop Becks blasting my room about how great Sky is (I assume it's Sky anyway, I didn't actually watch it).

I have an ad blocker, but I don't use it on this site as I know they help pay for it. If this carries on, I'll consider switching it back on until he's gone Smile

I am not too bothered about a pop-up ad so long as it doesn't reappear* once i've hit X.  'No thanks' should only be required once. Other sites seem to manage this.

And I am not bothered about sidebar ads or header ads either. They just sit there where they belong and don't impede me.

Thanks for your remarkable advice, Trev. As always.

Now that footballers are coming home and we've already moved on from the World Cup to How to Watch Glastonbury, with no doubt 13 Ways to Watch Wimbledon ready to go on Monday, can we please put the Beckham ad out of its misery now?

When you want to post a reply and you cant save it because the ad is hovering around down there and you need to open said ad to save is a bind.

I know shack jit about running websites and forums, but I know there are a million-and-one enthusiasts forums out there for every interest you can think of (and probably many you can't). Away from HiFi I'm a member of at least another 7-8 forums, a couple of which like the WHF Forum are linked to a commercial business (one is the forum of a well-known photography magazine and the other is the forum of a manufacter of car-care products), yet the only one that seems to need to bombard its user-base with annoying ads is this one. None of the amateur enthusiasts-run forums I'm on seem to need them either.

Really don't want to sound like I'm bashing the website, but I'm still getting this irritating advert.

Can someone please tell the Marketing Department that all they're making the site look cheap.

I’m all for advertisement as it pays for the site, but this ones going too far...fyi, this is the first time that I've ever complained about an advert on any site...ever.

RE: Beckham's mug.

I've had it about 10 times in as many minutes.  Every time I go to a new forum, thread, pretty well anywhere, I get it.  I understand advertising requirements but this is too much.

I'm assuming it uses flash which is why it's not appearing for iPad users.

I really don't understand why the site doesn't use one of the proven forum frameworks rather than having all the problems and usability problems with creating a new site framework.  It doesn't seem economic.

Andy, could I just ask how much longer the website is planning to run this ad and do you plan to use this type of ad again?

Mind you, it's run a close second by having a cat's backside repeatedly shoved in your face at the top of the front page of the site
