NEWS: Denon cuts the cost of its S-81DAB Smart Series system by £200
Denon has slashed a handy £200 off its stereo S-81 DAB system, bringing it down from £600 to a more competitive £400.
We first tested the unit back in October 2006, at its then price of £600, and although it has an appealing design, we reckoned you could buy a better sound for less.
However, there's no denying the Smart Series S-81 is feature-packed. It incorporates a CD player with MP3/WMA support, DAB/FM/AM radio, 50w per channel amplification and iPod integration in a single, stylish unit.
The speakers were designed by Denon's in-house team and tuned to suit UK tastes.
Set-up is simple, thanks to speaker cable terminations that are coloured to match the speaker terminals on the back of the player.
If you want to wake up to your favourite music there's a clock radio function, and the display shows DAB station info, Radio Text and iPod track and music information.
