Batman

No doubt, like us, you're in something of a continual state of saving; that next piece of hi-fi, the latest DVD, that AV rack – there's always something looming around the corner that will demand you part with your hard-earned cash.

So here's something else to add to your list: Batman Begins on Blu-ray, complete with a smart packaging box and fold-out artwork. Out on July 14th, this looks like a must-buy for film buffs.

Timed to coincide with the July 25th release of The Dark Knight – the next installment in the Batman series – the Batman Begins Blu-ray boxset is the first release from Warner Video to feature the 'picture-in-picture' technology.

This should unearth some extra functionality, for example allowing you to watch a video of the director's commentary in the corner of the screen as you watch the main film.

As well as plenty of additional unseen content, there are three hidden 'Easter Eggs' containing hidden links to behind the scenes footage and special features.

Further details are unconfirmed but we hope the UK release will have a Dolby Digital TrueHD soundtrack, just like the US version.

As mentioned above, the package features a 3D lenticular sleeve and collectable art cards. With a retail price of £24, the race is on to find the best price...

Amazon are selling this and 6 anime thingies (ok, cartoons, which are supposed to bridge the gap between BB and TDK) for around £30.00.

I dont have a BR player, and only have a crt tv, but as luck would have it a friend is a fan too, and he has all the necassary hardware.

im pretty sure the bb br has the prologue to tdk that was only shown on imax too (and in extremely poor quality on youtube. ahem). Im quite irrationally excited about seeing this, especially whan you consider that the prologue is in tdk, (which im also ridiculously agitated about seeing).

Phew. the end. sorry.

Or....

Take a <a href="www.movietyme.com/.../product_info.php at the US release. Most Warner blu rays are region free, but i'd triple check before pre-ordering. This is a limited edition release and includes a Batman branded flash drive Smile

al7478 - yep, that's Gotham Knight, isn't it? An "anime-inspired anthology film made up of six different action packed chapters" apparently... It's also out on July 14th.

Joe Cox - indeed! Thanks for that - in my childish excitement i forgot to mention the title lol! Hopefully therell be time to see both comfortably before tdk comes out, but i forget. ive seen bb, but as i say, really want to ssee the extras.

Im not sure the animes will really do what theyre saying tho - fill in the timeline gap. I mean, they wont want to put people at a disadvantage when watching tdk, if theyve not seen them first. personally, i think its an excuse to play with "villains" who wont make it into the films.

By the by, the aforementioned mate has said he'll let me see Cloverfield on BR too! Oh, the anticipation!

And theyre due to arrive just 9 short days before TDK is in cinemas! I shouldve told them to send them as n when they get the, rather than group the order. No matter.

i love blu-rays for new movies, on older movies the sound is pure crappage compared to the image quality.

1980's movies with 2000 image quality and 1980's sound, just spoils the fun of HD so i stick with dvd's on old movies.
