Does anyone know if these sound like a smaller version of the V4? I found them flat and lacking in midrange
The V4s sound more energetic, and of course, by having a bigger cabinet and more drive units can deliver greater dynamic swings and louder volume levels. The V4s do cost more, though
I probably shouldn't be writing this review as I've only had the speakers for a couple of hours. . . Paired up with the Denon DM39 . . . It's currently on my computer desk and so far they're only situated maybe a foot and a half apart.
I realise for the best sound they should be maybe 2 and a half metres and on stands, so maybe in a month or so I'll think about moving them. Still need to run them in too. However initial impressions are good, perhaps they sound a little soft, but I haven't turned the volume up passed 14 yet.They look fantastic, but the depth may cause problems for anyone wanting to fit them in small spaces. The front is modern yet with a hint of retro, and the build quality of the panels is very solid.
I would recommend these to anyone looking for a small bedroom system (perhaps a teenager) or in the kitchen, but serious audiophiles will want something abit more snazzier.
Definately worth the 5 star rating though, you get an incredible sound for the price. It's very dymamic and picks up details awesomely, with good bass which isn't over baring. These are brilliant, but the only small draw back I have at the moment is a slight lack of mid range, but I'm sure once I move them into a better position it'll sound alot better. I hope this helps.
These Tannoys are great little speakers. On decent stands, and with more optimal positioning, that midrange will be better balanced.
I bought Monitor Audio BR1 a year ago to fit my old NAD 301 amp and sold it now to get a pair of Tannoy V1. These speakers are more versatile in my opinion as they work well with any kind of set up (mp3, radio, CD, DVD) and provide a more exiting sound for the kind of music I play : Black Keys, Of Montreal, Blood Orange, Unknown mortal orchestra ... best choice for a low-fi user !
Got these speakers now yesterday.
Look no further..Tannoy is the best.
Clear beautiful sound.
They have no problem on low volume
Radio FM, TV or CD..classic or whatever...good speakers.
What are the main differences between these Tannoys and Dali Zensors?
I can really recoment this Tannoy. For the price it's a bargain.
Had these speaker for a few weeks So had chance to settle in.They look the part in sugar maple and the sound is superb for the for the price range.Hightly recommended
