Engaging is the central word here. Of course these speakers lack the resolution and weight of pricier designs, but somehow you never feel that anything is missing because they completely envelope you in the music. No matter what genre, the Tannoys leave you to focus on the music and completely sweep you up in a way that many speakers fail to. There are other very fine budget speakers available but even the excellent Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s don't engage in the same way that these remarkable little boxes do. I'm using them with a TEAC Reference 380 system and would very highly recommend them.

I just ordered the tannoys mercury Custom F1 speakers and set them up accordingly. with good cables and with the AV50 pro-logic amplifier. They sound marvellous and the details of these small speakers is amazing. They have bunch, clarity and detail. Bas is taut and controlled, whilst the treble is clear and precise.
When I opened the bx and took out the Tannoys I thought (These speakers cant do that much considering their size, but obviously I was wrong. What HI-FI are right to say that these speakers take some beating for only ???110. Buy them and hear them for yourself. I'm extremely happy with them.

Loud enough, no. Small woofer, yes. lack big bass, yes. Nevertheless, Pay extra and get a bigger woofer and cabinet such as the wharfdale diamond 9.1. However, these tannoys provide a very punchy soudstage.

It's easy to find speakers that sound different to these small Tannoys , but I've actually found it difficult to choose a speaker that I can definitely say is better at up to twice this price-point. I'm a very satisfied owner. They also seem to perform well close to walls especially if you leave the foam plug in the port, important point to consider in most domestic situations.
The conclusion is clear: Tannoy and Q Acoustics have a new rival to worry about
