A very capable one-box solution for those who aren’t keen on a full-blown separates system

filbert,

Have asked our Buying Guide person to correct the specification error; apologies for the date confusion – it's a known site problem where all comments take the date the original review was posted. It's being worked on.

The clincher for me was the phono input - despite the fact that the tech spec here says it has 0 phono inputs (tut!). I wonder how many more are wrong?

I agree about the display, very frustrating and won't show radio text or what's playing on Internet stations (eg Linn - my pocket PDA will tell me what's playing, why can't this?). It has network - why not a decent gui manager for a PC to control it?

Otherwise, very happy

(just to correct the date shown on this message, its Tue 19th April 2011, not Mar 2010 at all - what gives?)

No mentioning of the fact that you can extract your music in direct digital mode from your IPOD? which is one of the star feature of this product!! now that you know a 5 star is in order !! and Yes totally agree with "ftwhc" this is a very powerful micro set..that can drive any speakers you through at it even Floor standing ones.. I have never had so must fun playing with this unit and its many features ..there is nothing out there that can compare with this unit ..and for sure not at this price! Thx again Teac..you still rule the micro set market that you created 15 years ago with the ref 500 series!

Mild-mannered, polite and lacking enthusiasm?

No way, this unit has more punch than Rocky in the first movie!

A definite Best Buy, the Solo Mini does not stand a chance and the Reference 500 can even challenge considerably more expensive systems.
