Bought this TV on the strength of the WHF review and a quick viewing of it in my local Comet where it was running an HD demo. I guess with LCD's my biggest worry was how the black levels would perform and I have to say I'm well impressed with this on the 32W4000. I looked at loads of LCD's but for me Sony seemed to be the only brand with good blacks. Another concern with this set was the lack of 100Hz motion control but I shouldn't have worried, no ghosting or blurring on anything so far (including footy).
Standard def seems quite reasonable but as with all HD screens it's important to consider viewing distance.

Did you check all the settings on the set for Freeview? Worth turning off all the picture processing modes and playing around with the picture menus to get better results.

Just bought it. I'm not happy!
Have problems with Freeview
Not happy with the picture, as my 10 years old B&O is showing far more better picture and plus the ghosting as Kimbin says.
Taking it back tomorrow, but witch TV should I get now??? No idea yet :(

Any defect?
I can point out some:
1.- Marco and screen with many reflections!.
2.- It is not certain the angle of 176º. If you go moving for the lateral ones, you will observe as the color leaves stumping, losing qualitym, definition and intensity.
In these two things, some marks, as Panasonic and their series LXD/LZD 80 or 85, is better. The screen practically doesn't reflect anything the light of behind (bt not "marco") and the angle is perfect. Although it is certain its has other defects (for example, “it saturates” a lot in red).
I surprise myself with valuations that don't point out these two big defects.

Until someone answers me i thought this would be useful

Fast-moving footage does provide some problems with ghosting, which suggests that an anti-blur 100Hz version of the KDL-32W4000 might be worth the wait.
Freeview fail
Thanks to CEC connectivity, the TV's remote can also manipulate the basic functions of a Blu-ray player. So, is there anything it can't do? Yes: Freeview.
A lot of MPEG blocking and picture noise mar digital broadcasts. This may not be helped by the huge number of pixels on show, but we've seen rival Full HD sets deal with this better.

Thoughts anyone ?

I bought a onkyo SR605 a/v receiver with some jamo speakers based on several reviews.
To complete my set i want to buy a decent TV which would do my a/v receiver justice and I'm a little mixed up right now...which is actually the one to buy... this sony W series or the Panasonic TX-32LZD80 or maybe better the Plasma Panasonic TH-37PX80B taking into consideration
a) both got rate 5 stars on hi fi .
b)i watch more TV & cable than i do dvds
So..to the videophiles and people who want a good bargain, what would you say ?

Sony need to do a 19 or 23 inch model of this baby.
This excellent Full HD flatscreen impresses with both its integrated TV tuners and external sources.
