An eye-catching TV where the good looks are complemented by solid picture performance

Bought this TV after reading many reviews. First choice would be Philips 32PFL9603D, but out of stock in Portugal.

Review:

IPTV Standard Definition:

Great. I barelly see any noise or artefacts at all.

IPTV High Definition (720p):

Nice. On football games i can see an halo arround players. Playing with the TV settings can solve this issue, though i think this is probably a problem with the service provider, compression issues or something like that. Besides sports i only have Luxe TV HD, and it looks great, though not 'OMGorgeousness great' of course.

DVD:

Very nice. With the right settings, which are not hard to acomplish at all (many forums and posts leading you in the right direction), and even with the pre-defined Movie Mode, you can get a cinematic experience, great contrast, great colors. Very, very nice.

HD and SD (through DVI-HDMI from Laptop)

You have to conect to HDMI2 and rename it to PC.

 MKVs (720p, x-264), DIVx

I had some issues here: if the LCD works as an extended monitor, beeing my laptop monitor the main one, i get loss of fps in the lcd, it's like watching a movie in slow motion, but a rubbish one (this happens both with MKV and DIVX).

If i change to Entertainement -> Game, it works, but guess what, the image is ultra rubbish, you get halos everywhere, sharpness artifacts, messed colors, and all the settings are disabled - you can't do anything about the image.

If i set the LCD to be the main monitor everything works great though.

MKVs are excelent, beautiful contrast, great color, and definition. DivX are watchable but once you play HD you don't want anything else.

Sound:

rubbish. And another issue: A high-pitched buzz from the back of the TV. What the hell? TV defect? Maybe. Some complain about this, some don't. I do.

Messing with the cables i figured that if i connect the speakers or headphones to the 3.5 jack on the LCD the noise goes away. So i did. The internal speakers are rubbish anyway...

Conclusion:

Bought it for 700€. Best TV i've ever owned.
